Very easy
When I moved to Singapore, one of the first things I had to figure out was how to convert my foreign driving license. Sounds simple, right? But there were forms, deadlines, and a lot of “Huh?” moments. I’m sharing everything I went through—step by step—so you don’t have to stress or get lost in the process.
You can convert your foreign driving license in Singapore if:
| Step | What You Do | Notes |
| 1 | Check Eligibility | Long -Term pass holder only |
| 2 | Book BTT | Mandatory for All |
| 3 | Prepare Documents | See Checklist below |
| 4 | Pass the BTT | Need to pass once |
| 5 | Book the Traffic Police HQ | Walk in with documents and payment |
| 6 | Get your Singapore license | Usually same day |
If you’re on a short-term visit, you can drive with your foreign license for up to 12 months.
But to convert foreign driving license Singapore, you must be a PR, EP holder, or other long-term pass holder.
This is the only test you need to pass. No driving test, no practical, just theory.I booked mine online through https://www.ssdcl.com.sg but there are other test centres too.
Here’s exactly what I brought:
Tip: Go to ICA website, log in, and download your travel history.
The test isn’t hard if you study. I used online BTT mock tests and passed on the first try.You only need to pass this once in your life, even if you apply again later.

Once you pass BTT, go down to the Traffic Police HQ at Ubi.
No appointment needed—just walk in during office hours with all your documents.
10 Ubi Ave 3, Singapore 408865
Office Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:30am to 5:30pm
If everything checks out, you’ll get your Singapore driving license the same day. It’s a pink card. You’ll need to renew it when it expires—but that’s years away.
I started the process in January and had my license by early March. The longest wait was for the BTT slot—so book it early.
To convert foreign driving license Singapore, it’s mostly about paperwork and passing one theory test. I did it, and now you can too—without confusion.
